How to Leverage Momentum

Don’t you just love that feeling when you finish a yoga class! I don’t know about you but I feel so good, like I am ready to conquer the world, after a yoga class. I feel centered, accomplished, and ready for whatever comes next. That momentum is real and I wish I could bottle it up and put it to use in other areas of my life. Can you relate?

When we find a little momentum it is always in our best interest to capitalize on it to the best of our ability, and that is the focus of this blog – how do we leverage momentum?

How do we put momentum to work for us when we do have it?

Again, there are lots of ways to do this, but we will offer a few top tips here to get you started:

  1. Clarity – make sure you are clear on your goals and the specific tasks you want to accomplish in the moment – when you are clear you will be able to get more accomplished
  2. Flexibility – if you find yourself “in the groove” try to be as flexible as you can with your plans so you can ride that wave as long as possible (this could mean spending more time working on your goals at one time than you had originally planned to)
  3. Brain dump – if you don’t have the flexibility to work for however long that momentum may last, be sure to capture all the creative ideas and thoughts that you can by “dumping them” on to paper or into a voice memo – just be sure to be detailed enough that you will remember what you meant when you can come back to it
  4. Reflect – it’s always a good idea to reflect after you have experienced a strong wave of momentum…what were the things you did leading up to that? What were the circumstances under which you were working when you felt that momentum? In other words, try to recreate those circumstances the next time you set out to work on your goals in order to recreate that momentum again

Making the most of momentum when you have it can make a huge difference in your goals work. Take advantage of momentum when you have it using these tips. I can’t wait to see all the great things you will accomplish in 2024 by staying focused and making the most of momentum! Namaste.
