Happy New Year! In some ways it feels like 2023 flew by, but then again in some ways it feels like it took forever to get to 2024. Isn’t funny how time works in that way?
Nevertheless, here we are… another new year! Did you set a New Year’s resolution or a goal for this year? Some years I’ve set goals on New Year’s and others I haven’t. Everyone’s talking about goals this time of year and I’m curious - what’s your take on goals?
To me goals are great, but I think that in order for us to be truly successful with our goals we have to first believe in ourselves. We have to believe we can achieve that thing we say we want to. All too often I hear people speak of their goals in wishful or hopeful thinking terms, with a dash of side comments about how they probably won’t actually achieve them. That kind of thought process defeats your goals before you even begin. If you don’t believe you can achieve the goal then you won’t, it is that simple.
So this year let’s start by affirming our own individual ability to achieve the goals we set. Obviously we also need to set realistic goals (that’s a topic for another time), but for now we should focus on our mindset before moving into the goal itself.
That’s what will help you achieve the goal you ultimately set. Now get after it! And if your goal includes coming to yoga class... I can’t wait to see you on your mat! Namaste.
